C.3 – Recovery small wetlands on riverbanks of the river Ter

This action aimed at the recovery of small wetlands on the banks of the rivers Ter and Llémena. It will create multiple small lagoons, with shallow and temporary waters in different places; the two major sections of action will be in "Banks of the Lower Ter" and including a small section of "River Llémena." The first section is located upstream of the city of Girona, with planned actions to municipalities of Anglès, Bescanó and Sant Gregori, while the second section is downstream from the city of Girona, where, there action planned is in the municipality of Flaçà.

The aim is to facilitate the direct recovery of Pond Turtle populations and improving other species of European interest: Pond Turtle, newt, Toads, Tree Frog and other amphibian species. Recovery small marshes help the existence of suitable habitats for all the species mentioned.

EXPECTED RESULTS

It is expected to create at least 24 new small lagoons or marsh areas. 150 individuals of Pond Turtle are expected to release throughout the project.
